How do I take Alunbrig  (brigatinib)?

One tablet, once a day, with or without food

Comes in three doses: 180 mg, 90 mg, and 30 mg tablets. Your oncologist will decide which tablets you will take.

Once daily

Take your tablet(s) at about the same time each day. Try to make it part of your daily routine, e.g. at breakfast, or set an alarm to remind you.

With or without food

It’s fine to take Alunbrig with or without food, whichever you prefer.

Avoid eating grapefruit and drinking grapefruit juice

Because it can affect the amount of Alunbrig in your body.

Swallow tablets whole

With a glass of water. Do not crush or dissolve the tablets.

Store Alunbrig

This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.

Store safely

Keep your tablets out of sight and reach of children.

Your oncologist will start you on a low dose (90 mg) of Alunbrig for the first 7 days of treatment.

If you don’t have any difficulty taking this dose, your oncologist may increase your dose after the first 7 days of treatment to 180 mg.

Your oncologist may adjust your dose according to your needs.
You may start on a lower dose than 90 mg if you have severe kidney or liver problems.

What if I miss a dose?

While it is important to take Alunbrig as prescribed, don’t worry if you miss a dose.

If you do miss a dose:

  • Don’t take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
  • Simply take your next dose at your usual time

Don’t take an extra dose if you vomit after taking Alunbrig, just take your next dose at your usual time.

If you take more Alunbrig than you should, tell your nurse or oncologist straight away.

Do not stop taking Alunbrig before talking to your oncologist or nurse.
